About the National SPCA

Two of Ireland’s longest-serving animal welfare charities, the Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA) and the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA), have officially come together to form one organisation: the National SPCA (NSPCA).

Why did we make this happen?
The answer is simple: animals in Ireland deserve the strongest possible protection.

By joining forces, we can achieve more for animals in need - combining experience, compassion, and resources to make a greater impact across the country.

Together, we can:

  • Speak with one clear national voice for animal welfare

  • Stand stronger for the abandoned, the mistreated, and the forgotten

  • Begin a new chapter for animal protection in Ireland

The National SPCA builds on the rich heritage and shared values of both the DSPCA and ISPCA. Our mission is to prevent cruelty, rescue those in need, and give every animal a chance at a better life. Through rescue, rehabilitation, education, and advocacy, we are creating a more compassionate Ireland where animals are respected, cared for, and never forgotten.

To our incredible supporters, volunteers, and friends, thank you. Every donation, purchase, share, foster, fundraiser, and adoption makes this possible. Because of you, the future for animals in Ireland is brighter than ever.

We may have a new name and soon a new look, but our purpose remains the same: to stand united for the welfare of all animals and to ensure that every act of kindness truly makes a difference.
